Mouse Axes Settings For Atmospheric Flight

Currently in an atmospheric ship/drone, the mouse axes are pitch-yaw. This assignment is fine in zero gravity for a ship or any gravity condition for the character. However, this is not ideal for atmospheric flight because of the considerable downforce provided by the down thrusters (controlled by inertial dampeners) to counteract gravity. If the hover of the ship/drone/character is slightly off the vector that is normal to the gravity field, there is a lateral force applied which can cause position drift.

A terrestrial helicopter flies in this manner and lateral direction is controlled by the cyclic stick which controls pitch-roll of the spinning rotor (disk). Yaw is controlled via rudder pedals.

An atmospheric ship/drone would be much easier to control if the mouse axes could be reassigned to pitch-roll. Joystick support would be a plus.

Regards,

Bill
