PS4 connection lag

I’m playing with a friend on the PS4, and am getting a lot of rubberbanding lag. When either playing alone, or as the host, there’s virtually no lag (occasional lag spike), it’s just when playing as a “guest” on someone else’s game/server. I know it’s not our internet connection since we have no connection lag/interruptions on other games.
