Suit upgrades

How about the ability to upgrade your suit to specialise in some way. Would be a separate inventory screen with limited slots (possibly 3 for example or limited by some other factor)
The items that would be dropped in would affect other aspects of the suit...
E.g.
Armour plates - increase survivability at the cost of higher fuel use rate for jetpack
Batter upgrade - increase power stored at the cost of inventory space
Improved detector - increased range of hand drill ore detection at the cost of increased power usage
Etc etc
