New players lose bases because of surprising antenna implications
I didn't set a GPS location at my base because I already had my base's antenna marker always on the HUD.
When I explored further away, I was only able to find back because I remembered that the space station marker was roughly 42 km away when I was at my base. So I circled that marker until my base's antenna popped up on the HUD again.
This is the first game I encounter where it depends on distance whether the the player's base is initially on the HUD and might disappear when they travel a certain distance away.
It makes sense that antennas have limited range. But it is maximally unintuitive for players coming from other games with base building.
I think, antenna range is 10 km. That's a bit low for a civilization which can build a space ship from their backpack.
I didn't read about limited antenna range and that I should mark important locations on the GPS because relying on antennas is unreliable. Marking "The Barn" on the GPS should be a step in the tutorial quest line.
I have the same bug
