Turret remains idle depending on placement direction
DescriptionI found an issue where two turrets placed on the same newly created grid behave differently depending on their orientation.
The two turrets were placed facing in opposite directions under otherwise identical conditions.
One turret detects the target and fires normally, while the turret facing the opposite direction remains in an Idle state and does not engage the target.
From my testing, the affected turret appears to have a defined front and rear direction, with its firing/targeting area seemingly limited to approximately the forward 180 degrees. The control panel is located on the rear side of the turret.
However, the other two types of missile turrets do not exhibit this limitation. Both can detect and engage targets in any direction within their unobstructed line of sight, regardless of their placement orientation.
This difference suggests that the affected turret may have an inconsistent targeting arc or orientation-related targeting behavior compared to the other missile turret types.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a new grid.
- Place two identical turrets of the affected type on the same grid.
- Rotate one turret 180 degrees so that they face opposite directions.
- Provide valid targets within the expected engagement areas.
- Observe the targeting and firing behavior of both turrets.
- Repeat the test with the other two missile turret types for comparison.
Actual Result
- One affected turret detects and engages the target normally.
- The affected turret facing the opposite direction remains Idle and does not fire.
- The other two missile turret types can engage targets in all directions where they have a clear line of sight, regardless of their placement orientation.
Expected ResultThe affected turret should detect and engage valid targets within its intended firing range and unobstructed line of sight, consistently with the other missile turret types, unless its limited targeting arc is an intentional design restriction.
Additional NotesThe issue was observed using two identical turrets on the same newly created grid, minimizing differences in grid configuration.
Unlike the affected turret, the other two missile turret types do not appear to have a front-facing 180-degree targeting restriction.
It is currently unclear whether this behavior is caused by an incorrect targeting arc, orientation handling, or an intentional limitation that is not clearly communicated.
