92 hours into Space Engineers 2, after 784.2 hours in Space Engineers 1, and here is my bug/wishlist/review as of September 8:

  • All missions that require you to build a base and then go to a specific square/location to turn them in are broken for me. I have to complete them using F12.
  • Being able to queue only 100 plates/items at a time is really annoying when building my main ship in space.
  • Occasional random freeze/crash when I enter a ship. This is rare, but it does happen.
  • The large ore detector resets to 100 m every time I boot the game.
  • I really hope the crew NPCs will eventually be able to repair ships. Finding damaged blocks on a large ship is ridiculously time-consuming. Alternatively, nanites or some other automated repair system would be great.

So far, I’m having a lot of fun and SE2 has a lot of potential. The team clearly knows what they are doing, and I really like the direction they are taking with the game.

After 784.2 hours in SE1, I still don’t clearly see the advantage of SE2 as a game yet, beyond the new technology and engine improvements. But I understand that SE2 is aiming to become more than an engineering sandbox, with more actual gameplay built around the engineering.

Right now, it still feels more like a very impressive tech demo than a complete game, but the foundation is excellent and it is steadily getting there.

PC specs:

AMD Ryzen 9 5900XT 16-Core Processor (3.30 GHz)

MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk MAX WIFI

Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB NVMe

128 GB DDR4-3600

RTX 5070 Ti 16 GB VRAM

Windows 11 Pro 25H2 (sadly)
