Can't transfer big items because one cargo block is almost full. v2.4.0.95

When double-clicking an item and the top cargo is not full, but does not have enough space for one item, you get the "Item too large" warning, even when there is another cargo with space in the connected grid.
It does the same on shift/ctrl + click.
I would expect it to just place the item in the next cargo with enough space in it.
