dampeners are "single input" limited

If your ship dampeners are trying to stop you from for example plummeting down to a planet, and you're trying to gain forward momentum so you're pushing the forward button, all automatic dampening effects are put on "pause" until you release the forward button.
The result is that the dampeners just let you plummet while you pick up forward momentum with a potentially explosive outcome
