Particles can sometimes disappear when opening Map

In VS2.3, occasionally when opening the Map via menu or "M", all particles disappear completely.
Hydrogen thruster sparks/flames are gone
Welder flames and sparks are gone
Drill sparks are gone
Grinder sparks are gone
Jetpack flames are gone
And so on.....
The only way to fix the issue and get particles to render again is by restarting the game completely.
