Grinding targeting does not seem to be correct

Version v2.2.0.2113

I have been grinding with both the ship drills and the hand drill for a while. Currently I am working on the Engineering - Red Ship: The Incident contract where I need to grind down components to repair the ship to deliver the broken hulk to a nearby shipyard.

What I have noticed is that grinding is not starting directly under the drill when the components are deformed. The grinding target appears to be off from the shape itself. When this occurs, several behaviors result from the grinding.

First, the grinding target may not be present at all. The disconnected item may not be grindable at all no matter where you position yourself around the set of blocks. See the attached first video.

Second, when initial grinding does connect, it may grind blocks that are directly under the blocks rather than the block that you are trying to grind. Then once that block grinds away, you can start grinding the blocks that you are actually targeting. This can make a crashed ship difficult to grind, because you can end up trying to grind disconnected blocks that start spinning away from you when you are trying to grind from the outside in.

I will try to capture videos of these scenarios if I can, but touch drift of blocks while grinding (where the item you are grinding starts drifting away from you because you bumped it) can make it difficult to capture the issue.
