Creative Tools - Excessive Block Removal

Deleting blocks with a complex shape (i.e Gatling turret) will not only delete the block but also any other blocks that overlap with its bounding box. This is irritating when building. See attached for an example:
Top ship - original
Bottom ship - After deleting only the Gatling turret several other blocks around it, such as thrusters and conveyors, were also removed.
How to replicate: build other blocks inside the bounding box of a more complex block, and then delete the complex block.
