Sledge engines stop working

A few times flying the Sledge in space with full battery (100%) and adequate Hg (67%the last time, 100% previous), after turning inertial dampeners back on the engine made noise but no flame and no forward movement, ship just drifts to a stop. this is in survival mode, relogging out/in sometimes fixes it, otherwise have to drop back a save, the last time passing Kemik in space I noticed a 0.01 gav warning and the bug hit, logging out/in did nothing and ended up crashing on Kemik and dying.
No other warnings came up, just an unresponsive noisy ship.
