Tutorial does not progress after connecting conveyors

I wanted to try out the new tutorial, and after repairing the conveyors, the game does not recognize the objective as completed. i have not rerouted the conveyor line, but simply welded up the projections, but its not working.
partially grinding and rewelding the conveyor did not help. however, reloading, and then grinding the conveyor and welding it backed up fixed the issue, and the tutorial progressed.
