Grid Damage Spreads on Repair

I just found a rather critical bug regarding grid damage repair. If you try to delete blocks that are damaged on a gird, even if the damage was small, the damage will often spread to other parts of the ship even opposite of the side that took damage.

This is reproducible. Take any ship and just do a small amount of ramming damage to the side of it. Remove the entire side and copy/paste the undamaged side to the damaged side (or replace manually, doesn't matter). The damaged side might appear repaired but when you look on the other side of the ship opposite the damage there is suddenly damage that appears that wasn't there after impact.

I first noticed this issue after a large ship had a tiny dent from a tugboat. I repaired the damaged spot but blemishes appeared permanently. Even if I delete the whole half of the ship and paste the other clean side they'd still appear like there was some type of damage memory. I kept building on the ship and noticed that now damage was spreading to all internal armor and even appearing on the opposite side of the ship where the small impact happened. And when I'd delete and replace armor, internal spaced armor which wasn't even touching the exterior was getting massively damaged. It eventually spread through the entire ship and I've now deleted about half the armor from this damage spreading like wildfire and have to scrap that build.

With this wildfire damage bug, if a grid takes damage you might as well just delete the thing rather than try to repair.

I have 2 videos reproducing this issue and wish I was recording the previous 2 times where this happened in even more drastic ways and I encourage you to test this on your end because something is massively wrong here.
