Static Platform vs. New Grid Identical Blueprint Affecting Drill Physics

Version: 0.12.23.35

Description:]Drills behave differently depending on whether a ship was originally built as a free-floating grid or spawned from a platform blueprint.

Reproduction Steps:

  1. Build a drill ship from a fresh grid in space.
  2. Test the drill on an asteroid—it works smoothly.
  3. Create a blueprint of the working drill ship ("Grid" blueprint name).
  4. Place the blueprint on a static platform and remove the linking block, converting it to a ship.
  5. Make a new blueprint of this ship (which now has "Platform" in the blueprint name).
  6. Spawn this new blueprint as a ship and test the drill.
  7. Observe jerky, strong drill physics when contacting an asteroid.

Expected Behavior:

  • The drill should behave the same regardless of whether the ship was initially a free-floating grid or spawned from a static platform.

Observed Behavior:

  • A ship built from a new grid drills smoothly.
  • A ship spawned from a platform-based blueprint exhibits strong, jerky physics when drilling.

Hello ,

I have reproduced and reported this issue internally. I have also added this thread to our internal ticket (SE2-26580).

Hello!

I observe this behavior now both in creative and survival modes.

In survival mode when mining vessel is welded from a blueprint attached to a static grid it shows the behavior described in the original post.

This essentially makes atmospheric mining vehicles unuseable as they have to be welded this way due to planet's gravity.

Therefore i think this ticket deserves prioritization.
