Static Platform vs. New Grid Identical Blueprint Affecting Drill Physics
Submitted
Version: 0.12.23.35
Description:]Drills behave differently depending on whether a ship was originally built as a free-floating grid or spawned from a platform blueprint.
Reproduction Steps:
- Build a drill ship from a fresh grid in space.
- Test the drill on an asteroid—it works smoothly.
- Create a blueprint of the working drill ship ("Grid" blueprint name).
- Place the blueprint on a static platform and remove the linking block, converting it to a ship.
- Make a new blueprint of this ship (which now has "Platform" in the blueprint name).
- Spawn this new blueprint as a ship and test the drill.
- Observe jerky, strong drill physics when contacting an asteroid.
Expected Behavior:
- The drill should behave the same regardless of whether the ship was initially a free-floating grid or spawned from a static platform.
Observed Behavior:
- A ship built from a new grid drills smoothly.
- A ship spawned from a platform-based blueprint exhibits strong, jerky physics when drilling.
