5x5 platform has a different connector range than other connectors
When attempting to dock a small grid ship to a 5x5 platform connector, the 5x5 platform connectors don't allow docking from a > 50cm distance, unlike all other connectors in the game. This block requires a distance of approximately 40cm or less, which makes certain small grid ship designs incompatible.
To replicate: place a powered 5x5 platform connector and attempt to dock a small grid ship with one small grid block (50cm) distance between the connectors on both grids, as pictured. Notice that the connector does not turn yellow, and cannot be docked with.
Repeat after griding down the interfering blocks (in this case, landing gear) and descend the small grid very slightly, a distance of 10cm or less should be all you need;
Observe that the connector is now ready to dock, without any horizontal translation.
Now, replace the 5x5 platform with an equivalent inset connector (and surrounding blocks) and repair the landing gear:
The inset connector is "ready to dock" from much further away, well beyond 50cm even. This is the expected behavior.
Let me know if you need any additional information.
Somehow this submitted three times, and in the playstation forum? I don't how that happened. This was a bug encountered on PC. Remove the duplicate threads and move this to the correct location please.
I have the same bug
