Terraformer Tool (voxel hands) in survival mode

As the title suggests, I think there should be some sort of voxel manipulation in survival mode, besides mining. Say a Terraformer Tool.
Whenever I'm excavating for a base, be it in a cliff or an asteroid, I always end up cutting away a bit too much, due to the area of effect of the drill. A way to fix up those small mishaps would do brilliant.
Having played the scenarios before, I would love a way to make those dirt paths between bases or important locations.
Using the Terraformer Tool could consume gravel as a base resource and some different types of ore, depending on the material used.
That's just an idea, I think not only fits the game, but is also really useful
