Claimed Planetary Encounter vanishes upon death

Investigating

TL;DR: New bug in 1.207 deletes claimed Planetary Encounter grids up death, as the respawn screen comes up. To see it in action, set your UI to partially transparent and load the below saved game from the workshop.

Explanation:

I claimed a Planetary Encounter then took over all components and built it up to use it as a base (I've done this a few times without issue since they were added).

I ran out of food and when I died, or to be more specific, when the respawn screen appeared, the entire grid vanished, leaving only the subgrid that was my solar-tracking algae farm left, which then came crashing to the ground.

I managed to save the game before this happened (had to go back to saves and tweak my character position so it would be visible without much trouble, moved my medical components back to the rover so the screen would remain after the deletion, then saved it for this report).

When you load, you can either wait a minute or two for death by starvation, or use the backspace key. Both have the same result.

Again, this is both a claimed grid, and one where all components have had ownership set to me (anything with a computer has been ground down below the hack-line and taken over).

This has been set to "investigating" for a while.

Is there anything you need from me?

I can record a video to show what I'm describing if it would help.

Hello, Engineer!

First of all, we sincerely apologize for the delay! We tried to reproduce the issue on our side separately without using the Save file you provided (thank you very much for that), but unfortunately the issue doesn't seem to happen outside of the Save file. It does, however, appear every time we had used the Save file.

For us to be able to proceed further, can you please tell us if some World setting or Admin Setting (Alt+F10) were changed before the issue appeared? And are you, by any chance, were using any mods? This information will be very helpful for us in order to get to the bottom of this issue.

Thank you so much for your patience and your help in advance!

Kind regards,

Keen Software House: QA Department

Sorry for the delay.

The settings I changed would have been via the game setup menu. From the top of my head:

  • I added solar radiation (medium)
  • I think I enabled scripts
  • I enabled the "unsafe" ones for hinges, rotors, and pistons

I don't tend to use the Alt-F10 menu (in fact some in the forums were suggesting I copy the station before it vanishes and paste it back using that menu).

Yes, it was created originally with the below mods in the following order:

  • Advanced Welding - detaching and reattaching blocks!
  • Build Info
  • Colorful Icons
  • HUD Compass
  • Improvised Experimentation
  • Leak Finder
  • Ore Detector 150m small + 450m large
  • Speed-Mod 400m/s
  • [QoL] Radio Spectrometry

The Ore Detector and Speed-Mod are ones I created and are quite minimal.

I was just playing a new game (with the same mods) where I found the same Planetary Encounter and did mostly the same modifications to it and chose to die to test it, and it did not vanish this time.

One difference that occurred to me as I was typing the above is that the one I was just playing was in the default "offline" mode (pause-able) while I think the one where the station vanished was set to "private" or "Friends only" with a 4 player limit.

Thanks for looking into it.
