Jetpacks directional boost

i am not sure i like that i can only boost in one direction.
somtimes i would like to be able to look forward, know theres nothing above me, and just boost upwards to get a better vantage, and as it is using the jetpack to get any kind of elevation is a royal pain.
on verdure, its almost like the jetpack STRUGLES to lift us! and you can turn dampners off, and hold spacebar till the cows come home and get absolutely nothing. it just isnt right.
