blueprint projections in creative mode

im so frustrated with building something in space in creative mode. and accidently nudge it and it starts drifting.
i would very much like to be able to swap between hard target building and projection building in creative. then have a kind of snap build as if pasting a full blueprint.
alternatively being able to build a projection of a ship, then save the projection as a blueprint to be pasted.

Have you tried building the ship as part of another ship or station? When you are done, you cut the blocks connecting the 2 grids together. Place some blocks between the ships so you have room to work.
Back in SE1, I would often use a rotor to build a large or small rotor heads and build from there. Cut blocks or detach head. On the plus side, you can charge batteries while you work (though less need in SE2).
