Game completley failing to launch on linux mint

Not a Bug

I recently upgraded my pc from windows 10 to linux mint to completley avoid windows 11: revenge of the runaway idiots and their ai companions.

When trying to run space engineers 2 even with verius versions of proton all I can get it to do is load part way before it gives me a crash report stating.

"Unable to initialize one or more dependencies of the game. Please check integrity of the game files and required libraries."

Given that I have validated and even completley reinstalled se2 multiple times I am very annoyed with this.

I am hearing online that there may be work arounds but I have yet to find them.

Hoping you guys actually fix this.

Hello Andrew Miller,

As we are not officially supporting Linux and Linux based systems, I'm afraid I cannot assist you in this matter. However, I would advise you to go to our Linux chat on our Discord server: https://discord.gg/keenswh and many of our players dedicated to keep SE and SE2 working on Linux should help you resolve this.

As such, I will close this thread as Not a Bug.

Kind Regards,

Many, like me, have this working quite well.

It crashes over time, but as it's not officially supported, at least yet, I shrug it off and restart the game. It save roughly every 5 minutes, so that's not too bad!

I use the default proton, GE wasn't up to v11 last time I checked, and my launch options are:

DOTNET_ROOT="" PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 RADV_DEBUG=hang,allbos gamemoderun %command%
It might be a Mint problem, check ProtonDB Space Engineers 2 for cues.

I hope this helps.
