Playing without mining

It should be possible to play SE2 without being a miner.
Other occupations should be possible.
Trader/people transporter, merc/military, pirate/salvager, technician/ship builder.
I would like to see contracts/purchase orders available to enable these occupations.

Mining is a resource gathering occupation, may be farming and logging could be an option too in the far future.
I did think about photo journalism too, where you could get credit for images of events or great scenery, but I have no idea how this could be implemented.
Please forward, in the comment section, ideas for other occupations that could be played in game where credits could be earned.

honestly, ive done 90% of the current campaign by grinding down bits that i find along the way... so... its kinda possible...

OHH i remembered i salvaged ice from the first "leading" thing about the thruster... so yeah.. you can totally do it with only "mining" to clear paths with your drill to get to waypoints.. so...
