Coordinate System Bug

I've journeyed close the mid-section of the border in the Oblivara sector where the outside edge of the map has a bend in it. I then marked a straight line into the Helionis sector. However, even if I move my ship directly away from Oblivara Station, I still move close to hit. The GPS map shows that I'm getting closer and close to the Helionis boarder, but it still has me getting close to Oblivara Station. In fact, no matter which way I move my ship it seems the game has me moving in a circular pattern around the center of the sector, or perhaps around the center of Oblivara Station.

There're no real 3D coordinates? I'm now 1,500 km from the Helionis sector border and the GPS map shows my current position which for the last several hours has been moving away from Oblivara Station. However, even though I continue to move away on the GPS map and show as getting close to the border, I'm now getting close to Oblivara Station at almost the same speed as I am moving towards the Helionis border. How can I be moving closer to a place that I am moving away from???

It appears that once I reach the border that I will be 0km at my boarder marker and approximately 100km away from Oblivara Station at the same time as I will be at the border between the two sectors.

Two screenshots take a couple of minutes apart that show I am getting closer to both markers, the further I move towards the Helionis sector. It also shows that I am getting closer to every GPS marker that I have in the Oblivara sector, even though I'm getting closer and closer to the Helionis sector.

I Google'd and found an FAQ that Google shows that is not longer showing on the FAQ page from an older release. It says that we cannot travel through space to another sector and must use the Fast Travel feature. However, I want to know fulfill my curiosity to see what happens when attempting to cross a border. The bug is that I am moving AWAY from Oblivara Station but am getting closer in km even though I am nowhere near it. I wonder if the map loops, as if the top and bottom, left and right borders of each sector may be the same, but the km range does not show that either, so I do believe this is a bug.

I've added four-time lapse screenshots to show the issue.
