Easier Automation for New Players

One thing I would love to see is easier automation for new players.
Personally my goals for automation are so I can automatically do the following:
1. Mine Ore or other resources
2. Set player owned ships to Patrol, Defend, Attack without having to sit in the cockpit
3. Be able to do 1 and 2 while flying my mothership as 1 and 2 get taken care of for the benefit of the mothership
