Jetpack Boost Useless?

The jetpack boost doesn't seem to do anything right now? The acceleration rate feels exactly the same, except that it consumes hydrogen and gives you a screen shake. I don't understand the point of it if it doesn't give you way higher acceleration than normal flight.
