targeting dummys vs projector issues

hey every one @ KEEN


hope your all doing well.


i have found a glitch that when projecting a targeting dummy you can't walk through them so they seem to have a clipping issue.


but i have also found a game killer issue with them,


if you line a dummy up in a thruster exhaust then turn projector off/on again you hear a sound trigger of a block being built then game crashes every time.


i have attached a world with a few grids to show these 2 issues so you can see whats going on

Hello, Ni Ri!

Thank you so much for letting us know about both these issues, I'm just looking into them now. Would it be possible to create a separate thread for the crash-related one? Please attach the same world. From the back office, we can link one issue per thread so it would be a massive help. I will then update both :)

Hello, Ni Ri!

In regards to the crash, I can completely agree and see this is happening so if you can make a new thread, I can get that reported for you :) With the projector and dummies, I am able to freely walk through them without issue. I read your LCD and have toggled on/off but no such luck with them acting as if they are built. Were you doing anything else that I may have missed with this? :)

I have made the new bug report just for the game crash issue for you.

and on a server in survival and in solo on creative i can't walk past the wall of projected dummy blocks,

or shoot past it. it's late for me so i will have to try again tomorrow thanks for testing it and your help

In regards to this one, I have had another go with both through a server and via singleplayer and can't seem to replicate this issue. I appreciate it is now late for you but when you get a chance in the next few days please have another test and see if the same thing is happening for you :)

hello again,

after validating all files in steam i can walk past the projected dummy, so it must have been a me thing.

however this issue did lead me to find the other glitch that crashes the game, so a happy me only issue in the end i guess. lol.

looks like it was a me issue, after validating all files the projections can be walked past.

On most recent Splitsie's creative stream he ran into same issue. I was able to replicate that on my end playing also on survival server.

If you take a blueprint of dummy with body spawned then its projection will have collision, but only the body part. It will stop particles, bullets, player and smallgrids. Largegrids are not affected.


Once bugged projection start intersecting with grids there is big chance for crash. With thrusters it may be because thrusterdamage is applied to an area and tries to damage nonexisting dummy and therefore crach.


It is actually quite dangerous bug as its ground for some exploits or intentional crashing servers.
