World Failed to Save

Need More Information

While playing every now and then I get the annoying bug of:

"World '-------' failed to save. This can be caused by running out of memory or problems when writing files. Working in this world any longer may result in loss of progress. You can check log file to find out more about what caused this error."

I got around the bug using the "VoxelCleanup" tool that another gamer programed but this make old asteroids dissappear.

This seems to be an old bug related to names getting too long in *.vx2 files.

Hello, Engineer!

Could you please provide us with moreinformation regarding the issue you reported (logs, saves, etc.)? To report a bug intoour system it is necessary to have reliable steps to reproduce inorder for programmers to fix it.

Any additional information would begreatly appreciated!

Thank you.

Kind Regards

Hi,

I managed to get a save so you can reproduce the error, the problem is that the .rar file weight 16 mb and the attachment system has a 2 mb top. If you can tell me another option to upload it, i will gladly do it.

In this save, you have to roughly play for 4 to 6 minutes doing holes or constructing things to be unable to save the world

Is a "Learning to Survive" scenario without mod or scripts, i played it completing missions until the part where i need to get to the planet and destroy the pirate base, while building my own base i eventually got this error, you just have to play enough time to get the error.

I attached a log file, search for "PathTooLong" and you will find the errors.

Also this is the link to the Keen forum post where you can find more about the "VoxelCleanup Tool".

Kind Regards!

Hello,

I've been experimenting more with this problem and it seems to be triggered by drilling enough terrain or if I drill enough landed asteroids.

If I upload the save to google drive and paste a link here, that would be helpful?

Hello, do you need any additional information?

There you go, I managed to upload the save and log to your attachment system.

To see the error you only have to try to save the game using "Save As" and use the name "Learning To Survive 36" or something with more than 22 characters in the name.

The earthlike planet .vxs file get too many characters in the name and triggers the error, this is the third time i got it while im drilling resources.

I hope this help someone narrow it down.

Seems like the attachment system wants to get in the way.

Experimenting more with the problem, i managed to get the error consistently by drilling superficial rocks with mineral veins, drilling almost all the node get me to the point of "no save".

I attached a picture of the rocks, its not mine but you will see which rocks im referring to.

Hi

we have on the official Keen DE #6 this Problem.

server crashes off when saving.

looks like the same (similar) problem i've got...

completely ends the ability to advance gameplay as the game simply can't save.

creating a new save generates a folder with a thumbnail and no other files.

replication method: just start playing, within a few minutes, World Fails to Save messages start popping up whenever it tries to autosave.

game files on an SSD, plenty of HD space on both system drive and game installation drive.

i7 3.5ghz, 16gb of ram, nvidia 970.

files included: logs and two saves of the same world, one where i truncated the filename of the earthlike planet (and references to it in the SBS) as per the workaround for a WFtS bug that's apparently been around for four years.

files here, as your attachment limits are absurdly small given save file sizes: https://gofile.io/?c=TB9nLy
