Food production block - Farming subsystem similar to mining subsystem on long term
Bought the game few days ago, and if I would start telling how excited I am about this game that alone would take up pages. This game assembles things I like the most in video games: complexity, production chains, space exploring, big, industrial hardware/vehicles, building every detail you want, many parameters, open world environments, + life in harsh environment, in game scripting, modding.
My exact idea now would be creating some farming/hydroponic block for start, similar to the oxigen-farm, but this would be for food. We have so much technology in this game some, some living plants and so maybe would not hurt. Of course, we could just make it simpler via the Assembler creating food out of some Materials but I think farming would be more interesting.
On long term this can be turned into a farming subsystem slowly by devs and modders (for e.g. system for collecting CO2 and residuums and recycling into the farming process, seed vaults, creating self-supporting closed farming sections after all, or harvester ships could bring crops from remote planets where conditions are suitable for farming).
Maybe not everyone likes farming and biology, so the entire subsystem can be made optional for a map in world settings, e.g. missing food will just do nothing to the players on these maps.
